May 5, 2016; for Sponsored Youth day, the club celebrated and hosted Hall-Dale, Richmond, Cony Key Clubs, and Farrington K-Kids. The clubs described a number of projects they participated in, including volunteering at Camp Sunshine, Operation Christmas Shoebox, volunteering at the Good Shephard Food Bank, attending the Kiwanis District Convention, volunteering at the Kiwanis Auction, gathering donations for the Wounded Warriors project, helping with Coats for Kids, and volunteering at the Augusta food bank.
April 28, 2016; In observance of Law Day (May-1) ….Kennebec/Somerset District Attorney Maeghan Maloney was our speaker. She noted the 13 attorneys in her division have handled some 7,327 cases last year. She praised her department on having the lowest number of cases 6 months or older on the books.
Marlene, who is the Assistant Dean for Graduate & Continuing Education at Thomas College, advised that the group accepts new, handmade, and washable blankets from anyone, not just Project members. They generally accept any size and style, from simple fleece to elaborate quilts. They also accept donations since they are a 100% 501c3 non-profit.
