Kim grew up on North Haven Island and graduated from Monmouth Academy. She joined the Maine National Guard as a Combat Medic and enrolled in the University of Southern Maine (USM) Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
She received her BA in Business Administration and went on active duty as a Regular Army officer. Kim was one of only 18 officers selected as an Eisenhower Fellow at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, NY. She earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Leadership and Counseling from Long Island University (LIU), NY.
While stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, Kim deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina. During her tour with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in Madrid Spain, she deployed to Kosovo. After a Pentagon assignment, the Mondonedos spent three years in Japan. Kim culminated her career as Director of Human Resources responsible for community programs both in mainland Japan and Okinawa and working in a bilateral position with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF).
Kim and her brother, Peter, are Financial Advisors and are the 3rd generation of Mendalls serving the investment community. In 2014 Kim became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Some of her more interesting experiences include: parachuted out of airplanes, rappelled out of a helicopter, lived in Germany, Spain, Japan, Texas, and Washington D.C., assisted homes for battered women and children, supported refugees in Bosnia and disabled/abused orphans in Kosovo, volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and the Camp Zama, Japan youth skiing group. Kim also taught college courses to troops in Kosovo. She currently volunteers with the local Historic District Commission, Kiwanis and the Topsham Garden Club. She’s a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and she loves traveling and has visited at least 43 countries (6 continents).
