The club hosted Kasey McDonough and Susan Lasselle of KidsPeace, this private, non-profit agency is teaming up with Maine DHHS with an effort to raise awareness of the need for foster and adoptive families for children in DHHS care. The initiative, called “A Family for ME” is seeking assistance from community groups and individuals to care for children who are temporarily removed from their families due to unsafe conditions or abuse. In other cases, the need is for permanent new homes when the birth family is no longer able to take care of them.
They noted that almost 2,000 children are in foster care in Maine. If anyone is interested in helping every child in Maine have a good home, either by becoming a foster parent or just sharing this need with your friends, neighbors, or co-workers, call KidsPeace at 1-844-893-6311 for more information.
