Sponsored Youth Programs

Join us as we help kids around the world!

Kiwanis International is a "family" of organizations that focuses on teaching young children about the responsibilities of good citizenship, community service and building future leaders.  This is done through Kiwanis Clubs, Key Clubs, Circle K Clubs, Builder's Clubs, K-Kids Clubs, and Aktion Clubs.  To learn more about all of the clubs working toward this goal, click here.

The Augusta Kiwanis Club takes pride in sponsoring three Key Clubs, two Builder's Clubs, and one K-Kids Club in our community.

Key Clubs:  Cony High School, Hall-Dale High School, Richmond High School

Builder's Clubs: Cony Middle School, Hall-Dale Middle School

K-Kids Club:  Farrington Elementary School

Our sponsored youth groups independently initiate service projects and community service activities throughout the school year. Our club works through an adviser in each youth organization to coordinate our participation with their activities or to have them work with us on major service programs and fundraisers.

Camp Capella                  Polar Dip                          These brave souls from Hall -Dale Key Club took a cool dip and raised around $2,000 for a great program! Their Hawaiian attire was also a hit. Click Here to read the article about their efforts in the Kennebec Journal.

Camp Sunshine                  Egg Hunt                                    Richmond Key Club held an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids in Richmond to participate in! All proceeds were donated to Camp Sunshine!

Children's Center         Giving Tree                      Cony Key Club collected gifts during the holiday season in 2017 to donate to The Children's Center in Augusta.

Distinguished Youth Awards

Recognizing students for their dedication to their community.

Each year, guidance counselors from each of nine area schools nominate students to be considered for the Augusta Kiwanis Club Distinguished Youth Award.  The nominated students then fill out the application form, submit it to our club, and then go through a formal interview with Kiwanians.  A winner is chosen from each school and invited to our awards luncheon in late May.  Each student is introduced and presented with a plaque recognizing their community service.  Our 2018 Distinguished Youth Award recipients were celebrated on May 24, 2018 at our luncheon at the Senator in Augusta.  Winners are:

Timothy Flannery, Cony High School

Ryan Douglas, Capital Area Technical Center

Hannah Qiu, Gardiner Area High School

Maverick Lowery, Erskine Academy

Sierra Millay, Hall-Dale High School

Olivia Tamborini, Maranacook Community High School

Sierra Cummins, Monmouth Academy

Destiny Anair, Richmond High School

Laurie Ferguson, Winthrop High School

This group of 9 students combined gave 2,370 hours of community service!  Congratulations to all of you!
